“Nederland's Patriciaat”, also known as the “Blauwe Boekje” and often abbreviated to NP, is a series initiated by D.G. van Epen in 1910. It is in principle published annually and records genealogies of prominent, non-abalient families and includes non-abalient branches of noble lineages.ealogie.
When the Dutch royal family was installed, elevation became possible. King William I deliberately included a number of regent families in the Dutch nobility, often without giving them a noble title. However, they were awarded the noble predicate of jonkheer. Some patrician families proudly derived from the fact that they were not included in the aristocracy because they considered themselves to be too dignified out of well-known merchant families.
The “Blauwe boekje”is named after the linen cover, which has remained unchanged blue since 1910 and has been edited and published by the Central Bureau for Genealogy (CBG) in The Hague since 1946, from parts 32 up to and including part 94 in 2015. The management of the Central Bureau of Genealogy assessed whether the requests for (re)inclusion of a genealogy in a new series were eligible for placement.
