R. de Winter-Levy - Aan de gaskamer ontsnapt!: het satanswerk van de S.S.: story of suffering in and the liberation from the concentration camp "Birkenau" by Auschwitz - C, Misset N.V., Doetinchem, 1945
Rare booklet with the report of R. de Winter-Levy on life in and liberation from concentration camp Birkenau. Rosa Winter-Levy was together with the Frank family in the extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau and met Edith Frank there. This book appeared in 1945, 2 years before the publication of the diaries of Anne Frank.
Source Anne Frank Stichting: In Rosa de Winter she [Edith] finds a peer, she is also separated from her daughter. "We comfort each other and are friends, we are preparing for the worst. ' Edith gets sick, gets a high fever and ends up in the sick barrack. Rosa de Winter describes the last time she sees Edith. 'One morning new patients are coming in. All of a sudden I recognize Edith, she is coming from another infirmary. She is still but a shadow. A few days later she dies, totally exhausted. '
A penetrating report in a beautifully designed booklet.
Condition: Very good. Pages are lightly discoloured and very light wear to covers. Middle page half loose of the binding. Otherwise a very neat copy.
