Painting oil on panel shows "Zeilboten op stormachtige zee" (Sailing boats on stormy seas). Figures, ships, waves, etc. are painted in great detail.
Louis Verboeckhoven's works are distinctly romantic. This is expressed in the theatricality of the composition, in the sensitive, clear coloration, the anecdotal picturesque character and especially the supple, precise finish. He specialized in painting sailors and seascapes.
Charles-Louis Verboeckhoven's international recognition was honoured in Brussels, Cambrai, Arras and Lille. He was a member of the "Salon de Paris".
Some of his paintings can be found in international museums and private collections.
