1935, the Netherlands
These three original Gispen armchairs – low model – have stood the test of time remarkably well. Model 413, designed in 1935 by W.H. Gispen, springy armchairs with bakelite armrests and sled frame. Produced in May 1963, as can be seen from the stamps on the bottom of two of the seats. The faux leather is original. Apart from minor signs of wear, the chairs are in pristine condition. One seat has a small tear (1 cm), one backrest has a scratch on the reverse side and in a certain light, some pale spots can be seen on two of the seats. Please view the photos for an image of each chair from all angles.
The table – not original Gispen – can be included upon request.

Model 413 can be found in the 1952 brochure (including photos), which is available on the website of the Stichting Gispencollectie (Gispen Collection Foundation). About this model, it says:
Armchair no. 413 has seen a number of small changes over the years. When it was introduced in 1935, the tubes on either side of the seat showed a small outward incurvation. The armrests were chromed and welded shut at the ends. The bakelite armrests kept this front end in sight. The seat tilted backwards for a comfortable and deep seat. From 1955, the outward incurvation was abolished and the armrests were replaced by a type first introduced on models 201 and 207 in 1954, which had a downward semicircle on the front side that hid the tube endings from view. The tubes were no longer closed.
