Panther - J72 4.2 Roadster - 1982
The J.72 was the first product of Panther Westwinds and was sold from 1972 to 1981. It was the ultimate exclusive luxury roadster, meant to compete with the best of the automotive industry in the 1970s. The car uses the technique of the Jaguar XJ12. The 4.2 L reliable Jaguar V6-engine, as in this instance, came from the Jaguar XK. The design was inspired by the famous Jaguar SS100, but a Panther is definitely not a replica. A very exclusive car of which only 368 were produced.
The company went bankrupt in 1982. This Panther is reportedly bought from the bankrupt factory, making it one of the very last which would have left the property. The current owner has owned the car for 26.5 years, and is therefore the only Dutch owner.
The car is very well built. The technique is very fine and the body is without an accident or rust. The paint doesn’t have the gloss of 35 years ago in all places, but the many chrome parts are in a magnificent condition. The convertible top is in a good condition, the leather is original and very beautiful, and also the dashboard looks well cared for. A recent valuation report is available. The car has a particularly low mileage.
